A Cross-Country Search That Ended in Pacifica
Some home searches are quick. This one was a journey — and a wonderful one. Robert and Ann Bradford reached out to me (Ken Tritle, Realtor® at DreamWell Homes Realty) as they planned a move from North Carolina, returning to San Diego County where they had raised their children and planned to downsize into a more manageable home and simpler life. Like many thoughtful buyers relocating across the country, they had a real puzzle to solve first: they needed to sell their home in North Carolina before they could purchase here. That takes patience on both coasts — and it’s exactly the kind of move we love helping people get right.

An Open Mind, From North Park to Oceanside
What made working with Robert and Ann so enjoyable was their curiosity. They didn’t arrive locked into one neighborhood or one type of home — they wanted to understand San Diego County and make the right long-term choice. So we explored widely together: from the walkable energy of North Park to the coastal calm of Oceanside, the lush greenery of Shadowridge in Vista and across every format that fit their life — 55+ communities, condos, and single-family homes.
That kind of open, wide-ranging search is where deep local knowledge earns its keep. It took us into neighborhoods all over coastal San Diego, and honestly, it kept me on my toes in the best way — I was genuinely curious to see where they’d ultimately feel most at home. My job throughout was simple to describe and harder to do well: listen first, share informed opinions when asked, and never push. A relocation this big deserves to be the client’s decision, made with good information and zero pressure.
Why Pacifica Was “The One”
After more than a year of looking, Robert and Ann chose the home that, in my opinion, was the very best we had seen together: a single-story home in Pacifica, the 55+ community in Oceanside also known as Oceanside Manor. It checked the boxes that matter most for easy, connected retirement living — a true single-level layout, an active and social community with a clubhouse, pool, spa, tennis and pickleball, and a location under seven miles from the coast and close to shopping and Tri-City Medical Center.
And there’s a lovely, very San Diego bonus: their new backyard came with an avocado tree. They plan to add some citrus trees in the back too. After a cross-country move, there’s something just right about starting your next chapter with your own fruit trees out back.

In Their Own Words
“Ken Tritle was a superb guide throughout our journey to purchase a home in San Diego County. We first reached out to Ken because of his expertise in the world of 55-plus communities, but we quickly learned that he has a broad understanding of the diverse real estate options in San Diego. Ken has important attributes for a realtor — he listens to his clients and doesn’t impose his perspectives during the search process. At the same time, he was always willing to offer his informed opinions when we had questions. Ken was patient and eager to show us homes throughout San Diego, from North Park to Oceanside, from 55-plus to condos to single family homes. After a process that lasted more than a year — we moved to San Diego from North Carolina and had to sell our house before we purchased a house here — Ken’s persistence and acumen were invaluable as we ultimately found an ideal home in the 55-plus community of Pacifica in Oceanside. We are grateful that we met Ken, and we continue to see him as a friend and advisor.”
